Instead of Watching Netflix, I Accidentally Built a 57-Page Marketing Plan
Ever sit down to relax for a long weekend and somehow end up creating a 57-page marketing plan instead of watching Netflix? That's exactly what happened to Brandie Rhode from Success on Social in Saskatoon.
Instead of Watching Netflix, I Accidentally Built a 57-Page Marketing Plan
An unexpected long-weekend plot twist.
Let's talk about what happens when you sit down for a long weekend with absolutely no intention of being productive.
You tell yourself you're going to relax. Maybe watch a little Netflix. Have a coffee. Enjoy not having a million things on your to-do list.
And then, somehow, you end up creating a 57-page marketing plan.
I mean⦠who am I? š
But here's the thing. I wasn't sitting at my computer thinking, I really should create another digital product this weekend.
I was thinking about business owners.
The ones who are posting on Instagram because they know they're supposed to. The ones who have 47 ideas saved somewhere but no idea what to do with them. The ones who spend Sunday night wondering what on earth they're going to post on Monday morning.
And I had an idea.
One thing led to another, the coffee kept coming, and suddenly I had created The 30-Day Marketing Plan for Busy Business Owners.
Fifty-seven pages later.
Apparently, my version of a relaxing weekend looks a little different from everyone else's.
But it got me thinkingā¦
How often do we wait for the perfect time to do something we actually want to do?
We tell ourselves we'll start when things slow down. When we have more time. When the kids need us a little less. When work isn't so busy. When we finally feel like we know what we're doing.
But what if we stopped waiting for the perfect time and just followed the idea?
I'm not suggesting we turn every weekend into a work session. Good grief, no. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is put your phone down, watch three episodes of something questionable, and eat snacks in your pyjamas.
No judgement here.
But there's something to be said for using a little bit of that free time to do something that makes you excited about your own life again.
Start the idea. Write the first page. Make the thing. Try something you've been thinking about for months.
Not because you should be productive.
Because you want to.
There's a difference.
And speaking of making thingsā¦
That little long-weekend project of mine is going to be launching soon, and I'm pretty excited about it.
The 30-Day Marketing Plan for Busy Business Owners is designed to help make marketing feel a little less overwhelming and a whole lot more intentional.

Maybe you don't need another Netflix series this weekend. Maybe you need to give that idea you've been pushing to the bottom of your to-do list an hour of your attention.
Or maybe you really do need the Netflix.
You know yourself better than I do. š
Tell me this: what's something you've been wanting to start, create, or try that you've been putting off?
I'm curious what's been sitting in the back of your mind.
